Dominican Republic North Coast

Explore the Region

The North Coast

From Puerto Plata to Samaná — the North Coast of the Dominican Republic is one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in the Caribbean.

The Dominican Republic's North Coast — known locally as the Amber Coast for its ancient amber deposits — stretches from Monte Cristi in the west to the Samaná Peninsula in the east. It is one of the most varied, naturally rich, and consistently beautiful coastlines in the entire Caribbean.

The region's trade winds make it the premier destination for wind sports in the Caribbean, particularly kiteboarding and windsurfing. But the North Coast is much more than its famous wind — it offers spectacular rainforest hikes, natural wonders, colonial history, vibrant beach towns, and some of the world's best surfing.

Hideaway Beach sits in the heart of this region, giving guests and residents easy access to everything the North Coast has to offer.
